Here is a Method That Helps You to Apply Sunscreen Correctly

It is hot outside. You are bathing in the sun. The sun is burning on streets and on your skin. Everyone knows it: you have to apply sunscreen before ring out in the sun, but hoe does sunscreen really works, which sunscreen should I use and when should I reapply it. If you are interested in this topic then keep on reading.

How does sunscreen work?
Sunscreen protects your skin from dangerous UV radiation which cause skin cancer, wrinkles and any other skin damages by consisting of different chemical ingredients. As I am not that skilled in answering this question in detail, Everyday Mysteries did a fantastic job in this:

"Sunscreen works by combining organic and inorganic active ingredients. Inorganic ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium oxide reflect or scatter ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Organic ingredients like octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC) or oxybenzone absorb UV radiation, dissipating it as heat. Some sunscreens protect us from the two types of damaging UV radiation: UV-A and UV-B. Both UV-A and UV-B cause sunburns and damaging effects such as skin cancer."

Which sunscreen should I use?
Recently a serious foundation that is testing product came out that cheap sunscreens from the drugstore do protect the skin best. Expensive luxury brands or even more expensive sunscreens from the drugstore didn't had the right ratio of UVA and UVB factor. Some also claimed to have another SPF than they actually had. So here is cheap better than expensive!

Which SPF should I use?
The SPF is in proportion to the intensity of sunrays, so it depends in which region you live. If you live approx. in the 50° latitude then it's fine to use a SPF of 15 in winter and 30 in the summer. Obviously, people in Africa or even in California have to use a higher SPF. However, the choice of SPF also depends on your skin type and your self-protection tim of the sun.

Skin Type 1 (very fair skin, red hair) - 5-10 min
Skin Type 2 (fair skin, blond) - 10-20 min
Skin Type 3 (slightly bronzed skin, dark blonde/brown hair) - 20-30 min
Skin Type 4 (dark, really tanned skin, brown/black hair) - 30-45 min

So this means that when you use a SPF of 30, your personal self-protection time of the sun is multi plicated by 30. So the sunscreen would protect my skin for 5-6 hours (I am skin type 2).

When to reapply sunscreen?
Some sunscreen claim with the banner: "Once a day". Well, totally ignore that because that is definitely not true. Your sunscreen protects your skin for a certain amout of time, as I have mentioned above. Once this time is exceeded, no sunscreen in the world can elongate the time. Thus, after a few hours you just have to go out of the sun, take a break and maybe after a little while you can go back to the sun. But remember, two hours in the sun are definitely enough for everyone.

I hope you found this helpful. Please let me know whether you like bathing in the sun?

Wish you a wonderful day!
Lots of love,

L'Occitane Angelica Hydration Cream - Review

Today I want to review the L'Occitane Angelica Hydration Cream which my mum bought for me. I probably hadn't invest in this cream because it costs 35€ for 50 ml. It lasts for 6 months.

Packaging
The product is in a slightly green glass bottle with a matte surface and has a silver metallic cap which closes really well. In total, this design looks with the glass bottle expensive and because of the green organic and natural which exactly represented the concept of L'Occitane.

Description of the producer:
"Made with organic angelica from the Drôme region of France, the fresh and silky smooth Angelica Hydration Cream efficiently moisturizes and revitalizes the skin.
L'OCCITANE’s patented angelica complex reinforces natural skin hydration by stimulating aquaporines, improves skin elasticity and protects from free radicals.
Skin is plumped, smoothed and more radiant.
Best for dry to normal skin."

Consistency
The product has a normal cream texture, but it is really based on a lot of water, so that it is really light and is absorbed by the skin quiet fastly.

Colour
white

Smell
The smell reminds me, probably because of the packaging, of "Green". It is a mixture of a hay, gras, plant and cream flavour. However, I had to get used to this smell which took me just five applications.

Application
After cleansing I apply this before going to bed, I usually just use a sunscreen in the morning. I have got combination to oily skin, so I just need a fingertip of product for the whole face. It blends into the skin really vastly, because it is so light.

Positiv
When I apply thick moisturizer e.g. the original Nivea Creme, then I start to sweat underneath the cream. Because of its light texture and the high amount of water, I don't start my odd sweating with this cream. You also just need a tiny amount of product for the whole face because it is moisturizing and light on the same time. The best thing is that I haven't had any breakouts and my skin feels quiet balanced in the morning.

Negativ
I don't have anything against the product, I rather have against the producer: L'Occitane. I know that they have a certain target, nevertheless, the product are bit overpriced. I also don't like the description "Best for dry to normal skin." because I think that this moisturizer could be way to light for a dry skin. I have got quiet oily skin and for me it is the ideal night cream.

Conclusion
I am really impressed of this product. It moisturizes my face even with a tiny amount of product, it doesn't sit on the skin, is really light and looks really nice next to the sink. I think it is a really nice day and night moisturizer for normal to oily skin and not for dry to normal skin. However, I am not use whether I would buy this product once again because of the price. I still believe that there has to exist a really good, but effort able moisturizer on the market. Thus, I keep on searching.

Little Known Ways To Find Your Face Shape

I never understood why I should know my face shape and what benefits this would give me. However, knowing your face shape can make your life much easier because you exactly know which make up and with hair style flatters you most.
Today I want to show you how you can find your face shape in a really easy way.

1. Tie your hair into a bun or a ponytail and also hide your fringe.
2.a. Look into the mirror and draw with a eyeliner dots on the highest point of your cheekbones, your chine and on your forehead.
2.b. Take a photo and draw with your computer dots on the highest point of your cheekbones, your chine and on your forehead.
3. Combine the dots, which enhance your face shape, with face shapes below. As we can see in our example, Scarlett Johansson has a typical heart face shape.

You still don't know which face shape you are? Then here is a detailed description of every single face shape:

Heart-Shaped Face
A Heart-Shaped face have narrow and pointed chin whereas the the forehead is really wide. People with a heart-shaped face tend to have really defined cheekbones.

Round Face Shape
People with a round face have usually a really soft and round forehead, jawline and chin and full cheeks. They intend to look a bit more "childish" or "youthful".

Oval Face Shape
Oval Faces are said to be the "perfect" face shape or the most symmetrical one because forehead, jawline and chin are in proportion to each other. However, the jawline is often smaller than the temples.

Long Face Shape
Long Faces are nearly the same face shape as an oval face. However, their cheekbones and forehead are higher and thus, the whole face is longer and has a more prominent chin.

Square Face Shape
A Square Face has wide foreheads, cheekbones and jaw lines. Thus, the chin appears to be wide and the whole look is strong and broad.

I hope this post was helpful and you know which face shape you are. I am a oval shape even though I wish I would be a heart shape with beautiful cheek bones :)
Which face shape are you?

All the best,
